Construction has begun on the $39.5 million Gore Meadows East Community Park in Brampton. Expanding the award-winning Gore Meadows Community Centre and Library, this latest addition will add world-class outdoor amenities to meet the growing need for recreational spaces in one of Brampton’s fastest-growing areas.
This next phase in the development of Gore Meadows Community Centre will complement and expand the amenities already offered at the Gore Meadows Community Centre and Library, a cornerstone of northeast Brampton offering aquatic, fitness and library services. Together, the indoor and outdoor facilities will form one of Brampton’s largest recreation destinations, offering year-round opportunities for sports, leisure and community connection.
“This $39.5 million investment reflects our commitment to building a healthier, more active and more vibrant city,” said Mayor Patrick Brown.
The new park will feature:
- Premier and community cricket pitches
- Junior soccer fields
- Domed racket facilities (i.e., paddleball, pickleball, tennis)
- Skatepark
- Playground with shade structures
- Skating trails
- Naturalized environmental areas
- Fitness and cycling paths
- Picnic zones
- Comfort stations
You can track the project’s progress using a new interactive Parks and Recreation Construction Map that provides real-time updates for park and facility projects across Brampton. The map allows residents to explore the status of projects as they reach key milestones.
Projects are organized into four categories:
- Park – New Development (e.g., splash pads, outdoor rinks, fitness equipment)
- Park – Revitalization (e.g., playground replacements, trail and court upgrades)
- Recreation – New Development (e.g., new recreation centres, youth hubs, community parks)
- Recreation – Revitalization (e.g., facility renovations and amenity repairs)
Currently, there are more than 80 parks and recreation projects underway across the city, including Chris Gibson Recreation Centre, Cassie Campbell Field Hockey Multisport Training Dome, playground replacements, shade shelter installations and sport court enhancements.
“In the coming year, our community is expected to have nearly 36,000 new residents. As the population grows, the demand for high-quality outdoor amenities increases,” said Gurpartap Singh Toor, Regional Councillor. “Gore Meadows East Community Park will be a well-utilized, exciting addition that will serve residents for generations, offering spaces to gather, play, compete and connect.”
